This past weekend, Romain Dumas, driving the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak race car, set a brand-new record for the Pikes Peak International HillClimb, smashing the 8 minutes barrier for the first time in history and besting the previous course record by more than sixteen seconds. 

The successful win for Volkswagen not only proves that electric cars are here to stay in the world of motor sport, but also suggests Volkswagen is finally taking electric vehicles seriously.
