Now BMW has unveiled a self-riding autonomous motorcycle that it has been developing for the past few years. It can ride around a track on its own without a human rider — and BMW says it will use the lessons its learned from the project to make regular motorcycles safer to ride. 

But will semi-autonomous rider assistance systems help or hinder? And what will it mean for the future of the motorcycle?
